Hey Kevin (Jim from the writer's group), whenever I get slammed I go to my special zone, where perspective lies in its most unusual place: the Waffle House. Go there sometime, have the hash browns and take a peek at the people who work there and listen in on their conversations. It's a beautiful little slice of humanity that goes great with the Texas Cheesesteak Melt. Collectively, they may be some of the most overlooked people on the planet (relatively speaking), but if they, of somewhat modest means, can live and work and laugh in front of the sizzling grill, then why can't the rest of us?

Nice idea, Kevin! I went for a run during my lunch hour today and it was great to get out. A good run helps to clear out cobwebs in the mind and let the body do a little work (it's about time!).

While not much social myopia at Waffle House, I have seen a few roaches crawling around.

Art Hall

One of my direct reports shared with me that she received a letter in the mail on Friday night where her husband served her divorce papers.

From 5:45am to 9:30am, I counseled, ministered and encouraged her through this devastating news. To be able to pour out to an employee and a friend in need warmed my heart today.
